Derek Skidmore
Pastor/Teacher
Derek serves as the pastor-teacher of Edgewood Christian Church and has a strong heart for teaching the Word of God. He is an expository preacher and typically goes through books of the Bible, verse by verse. By God’s grace, Derek trusted in Jesus Christ for salvation at a young age. At the age of twenty-one, he began teaching a high school Sunday school class and has grown to have a passion to see kids learn about Jesus. Through the next decade, he continued to start and assist in several youth programs. In 2015, Derek would preach his first sermon and continued to preach at different churches over the course of the next five years. As time went on, he had a strong desire to pastor a church (although he didn’t know exactly where God was going to place him). In March 2020, God called him to Edgewood, where he continues to serve as the pastor/teacher. The Lord has continued to graciously grow his faith and desire for teaching, discipleship, and seeing others grow in their faith.

John Sullivan
Counseling Elder
John has been serving as an Elder at Edgewood Christian Church since May of 2023. His walk with God began on Mothers Day in 2014 when he put his faith in Christ. Later that year, he married his wife Brooke. John spent the next few years serving in various roles and ministries throughout the church and going back to school, as his faith and family grew. In 2016 John and Brooke welcomed their daughter Ellie into the world. In 2018, he completed his bachelor’s degree in Christian Counseling from Liberty University. Since then, he has worked in various positions within the community working with adults and kids struggling with mental health issues. John is committed to serving Jesus, discipling his family, and serving others.
